HUMANISTIC JEWISH ROLE MODEL
Las Madres de la Plaza de Mayo 2024-2025
The Society for Humanistic Judaism chooses a role model each year so that our communities can focus on a joint education program. The 2024-2025 Role Model is for the first time a group, rather than an individual. They are called Las Madres de la Plaza de Mayo and they were a human rights organization representing the mothers (and the families) of the children that were “disappeared” by the Argentinian Government from 1976 to 1983. Those taken were disproportionally Jewish and they were treated more harshly than other Argentinian prisoners. Each year SHJ develops a list of resources for programming. They are included here.
