We welcome Thiago Fillipe Soares and his family as members of our community. Thiago already knew he was Jewish, but upon finding Humanistic Judaism, he wanted to affirm his connection to a community with whom he shared values. He has chosen Ya’akov Ben Yehudah as his Hebrew names. He has shared photos of his family connecting to Judaism. We share his statement of affirmation and connection. 
Dear Rabbi Miriam,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits. I would like to express my sincere desire to be embraced by your esteemed community, driven by a profound connection to my Jewish roots and a steadfast commitment to the humanistic values that Judaism so eloquently embodies.
Throughout my personal journey, I have discovered that my origins trace back to the rich Jewish tradition. This revelation has ignited within me a genuine yearning to reconnect with my cultural 
and spiritual heritage. As I delved into my studies, I was deeply impressed by the profound emphasis that humanistic Judaism places on dignity, compassion, and respect for fellow human beings.
The humanistic approach of Judaism has resonated strongly with me. Its beliefs in the significance of engaging in social justice, valuing diversity, and assuming responsibility for building a better world align seamlessly with my own principles and aspirations. I genuinely believe that the human-centered view of treating others, championed by this branch of Judaism, can serve as a beacon to guide my actions and future contributions.
In seeking adoption by your community, I not only yearn for a profound sense of belonging but also for the privilege of learning and growing under the guidance of such inspiring individuals. I believe that this journey of learning will enrich my understanding of humanistic Judaism and strengthen my ability to positively impact those around me.
