We are thrilled to launch our new SHJ.org website! While our previous website was also built on a WordPress blogging platform, it did not allow for traditional blogging with distinct posts organized by categories and tags and sortable by date.
Recognizing we’re a bit late to the blogging party, we still feel excited about our new ability to add regular blog posts, as it provides us with the opportunity to share fresh content with our members and all those exploring Humanistic Judaism.
As we move forward, some of our blog posts will be available to all, and some will contain content accessible only to members and supporters. Again, this is not a departure from the past, just an improvement in how it’s delivered. In the past, we maintained a completely separate members-only site. We feel this new integration will be much easier and more useful and enjoyable for all.
Blog posts will all be available on the main blog page, and then they will populate throughout the site depending on categories. For example, blog posts tagged with the “Hanukkah” category will appear on the Hanukkah page, as well as on the main blog page. That way, eventually, visiting the Hanukkah page will allow users to see blog posts about Hanukkah from years past all in one place, rather than searching or scrolling through the main blog page. This will also allow us to attach downloadable content to topic-specific blog posts, knowing they will be easily found on those topic-specific static web pages.
This entry is unique though! We’re going to tag it with all the categories we’re launching the site with, so each page has at least this one blog entry to start. We are committed to making sure this won’t be the one-and-only blog entry on any page! Thanks and stay tuned for much more!
Really nice look, SHJ folks. A true improvement. Smart to get up and running without being perfect. Bold move. Mazel Tov!
Very nice website!
