The (Secular Humanistic) Rebbe’s Tisch: The Winter Holidays

This gathering took place on Dec. 24, 2016 at the Birmingham Temple, Farmington Hills, Michigan (now Congregation for Humanistic Judaism of Metro Detroit).

Traditional Jews gather around their rabbi’s table (their “rebbe’s tisch”) to learn words of wisdom from the Torah. Our Secular Humanistic rabbi, Jeff Falick, begins with headlines from the Jewish world, then turns to the Torah’s weekly portion, employing the tools of critical-historical study along with an appreciation for traditional ways in which the Torah was studied throughout Jewish history.
